Who am I?
Closely following his time with the Glyndebourne Academy and tenure with the Oxford Bach Soloists, tenor Oscar Bowen-Hill has commenced his MMus in Performance at RNCM with the generous support of the William and Frances Dobie Charitable Foundation and the Oglesby Charitable Trust.
Prior to 2024 Oscar split his time between research; into Synaesthesia (combined-sense-perception) and Futilitarian Decision-Making (where decisions are driven by desire for least-damage, instead of best outcomes); hospitality work; and singing throughout London.
Highlights of 2024 include working closely with the Oxford Bach soloists, and a solo recital including Beethoven’s ‘An die ferne Geliebte’ at St Paul’s, Knightsbridge in July. This Autumn, Oscar performed in part of a recital of Fauré’s ‘La Bonne Chanson’ at RNCM before providing the tenor solos in Haydn’s Imperial ‘Nelson’ Mass and Handel’s Messiah with Stafford and Ulverston Choral societies, respectively.
Oscar looks forward to debut performances in early 2025: as Sir Philip Wingrave, in the RNCM productions of Britten’s opera ‘Owen Wingrave’, Britten’s Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings with Lancashire Chamber Orchestra as well as beginning work with the Liverpool Bach Collective.
Particularly suited to early and 20th century music, Oscar has also been working closely with contemporary composers and investigating traditional songs and their purposes too. Alongside his music, Oscar is an outdoor-loving, family-oriented, joy-seeking individual who loves to cook and spend time with friends.
